Firstly, I like to apologize for my lack of activity recently. I've had a lot of uni stuff to finish, and finding the time to edit has been difficult. I will try and get the synopsis for Normandy finished ASAP.
Now, with the season coming to a close, we can probably expect activity to drop a little, since there won't be new episodes to entice people to visit. I was thinking I might put some of the synopses on hold for a while, and focus on expanding some of the character articles, starting with the later characters (such as Katrina, Robert Zane, maybe Hardman as well). My guess is that, with the lack of new episodes, people that do visit will be more interested in the characters, so I figured focusing on those slightly more might be a good idea.
I feel that the addition you made regarding vandalism and blocking is slightly over the top. I think that if someone does vandalise, trying to encourage them to stop and change their behaviour should be the first step rather than a direct block.
Also, I feel that any policy regarding blocking should be the same whether the user is an anon or not. Singling anons out doesn't really promote the idea of every user is equal.
Really? It's just that these anonymous users are actually more persistent.. But you do have a point, I suppose we could try talking them first into actually creating an account.. alright, I'll correct it now. :)
We don't really need to encourage them to create an account, just a quick please do not vandalise, if you are looking to contribute here are some ideas type message. I just feel that sending them a message first could achieve more than directly blocking. If they persist, then a block can still be issued, any vandalism can be quickly reverted, and no real harm will be done. If they do change however, the wiki will gain itself a valuable contributor.
Hmm.. usually I just ban them for months if the vandalisms go over the top, a couple of weeks, maybe 2, if the vandalisms weren't as drastic. What do you normally do?
Well, this is actually my first time being an admin, so I have no "normal system". That said, I'd be more inclined towards shorter blocks, and then increasing the length if such behaviour persisted, rather than blocking longer to begin with. Probably I'd start with a 3 day block, maybe a week for more severe situations, and then increase the block if the actions continued.
Credits - doing the credits for the Pilot, I only included the actors names, not the production crew. Should we include all names given, or just the main ones like writer, director, producer etc.
New episodes - with the new episodes due to start next week, do you think it would be better to start writing up the synopses for them now, or just keep going through the episodes in order.
Sorry I'm not around as much lately, first week back from the holiday is always hectic. Anyway:
I think it's better if only the writer, director & producer is included :D The list tends to get long and messy if the whole crew is put in, in my opinion..
Which synopses are you referring to? those of the old episodes? Sorry I seem to be misreading it lol
What I meant was, do you think it would be better to write the synopses for the new episodes as they air, or better to focus on writing up the old episodes now, and just work through the episodes in order. People that come to look at the wiki are probably going to be more interested in the newer episodes, but at the same time, I don't want to neglect the older ones.
Oh, I see! I think we should work on the new episodes as they come out, then work on the old ones in the days between. There are 6 episodes left; we could take turns on writing the snyopsis for each week. :D
