Harvey: Unless you want to go back to whatever you were doing before I hired you, you'll be here at 9 a.m.
Mike: This is the address for your car club.
Harvey: Oh, yeah, your memory.
Mike: I'd remember this even if I had your memory. It was right before our first case together.
Harvey: You're right. McKernon Motors. So, this time, be on time and put your seat belt on. Because we're about to take a trip down memory lane.

Flashbacks[]

  • After senior partner Fairchild dies, Louis Litt comes up with the idea to team up with Harvey Specter to convince Daniel Hardman to promote the pair of them from senior associates to junior partners rather than promote an existing junior partner to senior partner. Hardman agrees to promote one of them, providing they are able to sign McKernon Motors as a client. Knowing that Avery McKernon values loyalty, Harvey convinces Avery that he would always be loyal to him and his company, and signs them as his client. However, Hardman informs him that their competitor, Fletcher Engines, wants to be their client instead, demanding that Harvey drop McKernon. When Harvey refuses, Louis steals Harvey's gameplan for the hearing and gives it to Fletcher, and is rewarded by Hardman by becoming junior partner.
  • After having been expelled from college before his graduation, Mike Ross works as a bike messenger in New York. While making deliveries at a legal clinic, he flirts with intern Claire Bowden, a law student at New York University whom he impresses with his legal knowledge. Claire, who is attracted to him, asks him what else he does other than delivering packages, stating that she would want the man in her life to be much more. Mike lies to her, pretending to be a law student at Columbia University, and helps her during her immigration case.
    • Claire's employer, Nathan, realizes Mike is lying and refuses to use his casework to help their client. He informs Claire about Mike's lies, prompting Claire to cut ties with him.

Present Day[]

  • Harvey Specter invites Louis Litt and Mike Ross on a road trip to McKernon Motors' corporate headquarters, intending for the duo to come to peaceful terms with the other. After Louis chokes out Mike during a gas stop, Louis begins to cry and the pair make amends. As a result, Harvey steps down from representing McKernon Motors by granting Mike and Louis 50% each, making them McKernon's new co-counsels.

Goofs/Inconsistencies[]

  • The flashback scenes are said to be taking place "six years ago", and feature Harvey Specter and Louis Litt working as senior associates at Pearson Hardman, trying to gain junior partnership from Daniel Hardman. Since the present day is set in 2014-2015, the flashback scenes would be 2008-2009. However, the season 2 episode "Rewind", set in 2012, makes it explicitly clear that Harvey had secured junior partnership five years earlier in 2007 by exposing Hardman's embezzlement. As Hardman had been ousted in 2007 and had not returned to the firm until 2012, it would be impossible for him to be the managing partner during 2008-2009.
    • Harvey and Louis are both revealed to be fifth-year associates with their own offices. However, previous episodes revealed that Harvey worked at the District Attorney's Office for four years before joining Pearson Hardman (meaning his fifth year would be his first year at the firm) as well as the fact that he had spent quite some time alongside Louis in the associate bullpen before gaining an office. In addition, Jessica also reveals that she had inquired into promoting Harvey to junior partner, despite the fact that it is only Harvey's first year in the corporate world.
  • According to Harvey in the season 1 episode "Inside Track", he had spent a decade shaping McKernon Motors' vision alongside Avery McKernon and wrote their bylaws during his time as an associate, adding that he was two years younger than Mike, who was 29-30 at the time. However, in this episode, it is revealed that he had signed McKernon Motors at a much older age and, in accordance with the series' timeline presented thus far, would have been their attorney for five years at the most by the time Avery died.
  • While at a gas station, Harvey tells Louis to fill the tank up. However, the gas station is not a Self-Serve; the sign behind and above Louis lists the gas station as a Full Serve, meaning there are attendants who would fill the tank.
